Frequently Asked Questions

How do I claim my business?

Jyackl is a wiki-style site, and we care about keeping information accurate and up-to-date. We understand that having control over your business's public image is crucial as a business owner.

Currently, we do not have support for business owners to claim sole control over the information associated with their business listing. When user accounts become active, please feel free to create one and suggest edits to your business's listing. We are looking into systems to handle directory moderation, but nothing is actively in the development pipeline. If you have any concerns, please contact us via social media or email.

How do I add my business?

When user counts become active, business owners will be able to create accounts and add their busineses to the directory. We do not have specialized business accounts, so you will follow the same workflow as normal users.

My information is out of date. How do I update it?

We apologize that your business' information is out of date. Much of the information listed on this site was collected when Jyackl was very much a rough prototype.

If you would like to update your business' information, please sign-up for an account and then suggest edits to the listing on it's directory page. When a moderator approves your changes, they will appear publicly on the site.

Do I need to own the business to add it as a listing?

No, you do not need to own the business to add it to Jyackl's directory. That is part of our model. We want to encourage food-lovers in the DMV area to take an active role in curating information about our local Black-owned businesses.

Can I leave reviews?

No, Jyackl does not support users leaving reviews on business listings. If you would like to review a business, please refer to one of the many other business review platforms. On this site, we care more about connecting people with objective information, and we leave the rest as an exercise for the reader 😉.

Is there an app on the app store?

Jyackl is not available to install from any app store. Instead we have designed the site to be installable from the web. If you add Jyackl to the home screen of your device, it will give you a similar experience to a native application.
